26.11.2020, students of  the Higher College of Electronics and Communications took part in the online conference "The Role of the First President - Elbasy in Turning Kazakhstan into a Nuclear-Free Power." During the conference, our students remembered the history that on August 29, 1949, the first atomic explosion was carried out at a test site near the city of Semipalatinsk.

The last test of nuclear weapons took place at the test site in 1989. And in 1991, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev unilaterally closed one of the largest nuclear test sites in the world. The day of closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site - August 29, after 18 years at the session of the UN General Assembly a special resolution was announced.

In one of his articles on nuclear issues, the First President - Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev described the current situation in the world, saying: "Fortunately, the world today is not an arena of nuclear conflicts. But it is the scene of serious contradictions.

And the solution to these contradictions is in the hands of the few people making decisions. In the hands of the leaders of states, each of which bears a share of the responsibility so that a split atom does not split us all. " is the International Day against Nuclear Tests.

A commented viewing of the film "Wise Decision," tells about the fateful decision of Elbasy to abandon the world's fourth nuclear arsenal and close the Semipalatinsk test site, where 2/3 of the USSR's nuclear weapons were tested. The film also tells about the work on the revival of the Aral Sea.

Summing up the results of the conference, we can say that Kazakhstan, like other states, has the only goal - to leave the next generations a safe and nuclear-free world.
